What are the advantages of fostering ? |

What does it mean to be a foster family ? |
Role : When someone becomes a foster parent, he or she commits to temporarily take on a cat from ARN and to pay for its food ( except for those that have to be on a special diet ) the cat litter and all other accessories ( ex. litter box… ). The vet fees are entirely covered by the ARN. On the other hand, the person will need to bring the cat to the vet office that the ARN has told him to go to. ( if possible ).
Cats placed in foster homes, are there for an indeterminate period, ideally until they are adopted. The foster family who does no want to keep the cat anymore, must notify us at least 2 weeks in advance so that we can plan the return of the cat at the shelter or the transfer to another foster family. The cat in a foster home must, from time to time, come to our adoption days, those are held on almost every Saturday. The goal is to give him as many chances possible to be adopted. The foster family is responsible for bringing the cat to these adoption days, if it is not possible, a transport with a volunteer can be arranged. There may also be some home visits by people interested in seeing and/or adopting the animal. Note that these visits will always be done with a volunteer from the ARN and with the permission of the foster family. Need : We need foster homes for these cat categories : *Cats who need to eat a special diet (ex. : C/D, W/D, etc.); *Pregnant female; *Female with kittens; *Kittens and young cats of less then a year old; *FIV cats; *Senior cats; *Cats taken on by the ARN but as of yet have not gone to the shelter (ex. stray cats); *Cats that need to be socialized.
