Joker is a beautiful cat who arrived in February 2020 at our shelter with his brother Robin. He has progressed faster than his brother in terms of socialization and that's why he's now available after 2 years of hard work!

Since joining a foster family in December 2023, Joker has continued to learn more about humans. Every week, it's a joy to see him slowly opening up to people and overcoming his original fear. While he's still fearful at heart and doesn't want to be hugged or handled for long, he spends a lot of time accompanying his humans from room to room and asking for scratches. After a long time, he's learned to love being petted, and will seek out his petting when he wants it, making little nudges with his head against his legs to attract attention. This little companion, very greedy and brave, loves to perch high up, play with anything he can get his hands on, and take his finds back to his pet bed. When excited, he meows in his own way, in an adorable coo reminiscent of a songbird. Expect to hear him often, whether approaching a treat or a human he likes. Joker is independent and curious: he greatly enjoys looking out the window and staying in the center of the action.

Joker is looking for a family so he can continue to flourish. He's not easily handled, especially at first, so a family used to cats will be preferable. He can get on well with a quiet or elderly cat, but will probably prefer to be the only cat in his home. He also needs a fairly large litter box. He'll need time to adapt, but after a few weeks he should find his feet. The important thing is to be patient with him. He has already shown himself to be an affectionate and playful cat when given the opportunity and his pace is respected. Once past his initial fear, this charming cat has plenty of love (and cooing) to give.
